Reverse a payout

Pull back a Wave payout sent by mistake, within 3 days.

Sent money to the wrong number, or the wrong amount? You can ask Wave to return a completed payout. If Wave agrees, the money goes back to your payout balance.

When you can reverse

• The payout went to Wave.
• Its status is completed.
• It was sent no more than 3 days ago.

Afrimoney payouts can’t be reversed through the API. Contact the recipient, or email [e-mail].

Reverse it

Use the payout’s id or its transfer_reference:

This needs a key with the transfers:write permission.

If it works, the payout’s status becomes reversed, the amount and the fee go back to your payout balance, and you get a transfer.reversed webhook.

If Wave refuses, for example because the money was already withdrawn, you get an error and nothing changes. The payout stays completed.

Unclaimed Wave payouts

If a Wave payout goes to a number with no Wave account, Wave holds it. If nobody claims it, Wave returns it after about 15 days. We then put the money back in your payout balance and send transfer.reversed.
